Helsinki X Guggenheim Competition

In collaboration with SAMOO NY

Helsinki, Finland

Guggenheim Helsinki draws inspiration from Finland’s lakes and the Northern Lights, with a fluid, wave-like form that connects city, park, and harbor. The building’s carved façade and layered materials evoke the soft glow of the aurora, blending naturally into its waterfront setting.

As a cultural landmark, the museum acts as a nexus between the city and Eteläsatama harbor, extending urban and park life into its structure. Public programs span two levels—city access at ground level and park access from above—encouraging cultural exchange and civic engagement.

Inside, floating galleries and meandering paths create a dynamic visitor journey. Natural and artificial forest elements—like birch-lined escalators and wooden screens—fuse architecture with nature, offering an immersive and poetic museum experience.
